10 mls : Sugar Syrup
15 mls : Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
Instructions :
To make a Bramble cocktail use the following recipe instructions:
1. Shake the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup with no ice.
2. Pour into a rocks glass full of crushed ice.
3. Stir.
4. Top up with crushed ice and drizzle the Blackberry.
Enjoy your Bramble!
Correctly made, the drink should taste just slightly sour. Using crushed ice dilutes the drink perfectly: not as much as shaking with ice, but enough to remove the sweetness that would linger if it were just stirred with ice. The "bleeding" effect of the blackberry liqueur is also very cool.
Common variants are using creme de cassis ( a blackcurrant liqueur) or various raspberry, strawberry and other forest fruit liqueurs instead of blackberry liqueur, or making the drink with vodka instead of gin (the vodka Bramble).
